Insurance Authority warns against fraudulent website

Further to our press release on 14 March 2022 which warns against a fraudulent website at “https://fourseasinsuranceltd.com”, the Insurance Authority (IA) today (21 April 2022) wishes to alert members of the public in Hong Kong to another fraudulent website with a similar domain name “https://www.fourseasinsuranceltd.co” which also contains false or misleading information about Four Seas Insurance Consultants Ltd (the Company).

Both fraudulent websites purport to be the official website of the Company. The Company is a licensed insurance agency instead of an authorized insurer. It has confirmed that it does not operate any official website and has no connection with the fraudulent websites.

The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information to the websites or has conducted any insurance transactions through the websites should report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force.

Members of the public are reminded to verify the status of any entity making use of the internet to solicit insurance business from the public. The full list of authorized insurers and insurance intermediaries in Hong Kong can be found on the Register of Insurers and Register of Licensed Insurance Intermediaries on the IA website respectively.
